The heros behind the tin walls
The emotion seeing my son running into his mom’s arms
softly blended into the tears of a hard goodbye
overwhelmed by the beauty of Tacugama’s scenery
in the needed solitude at its privileged balcony
surrounded by an astounding, misty rainforest,
with hundreds of termites flying up to feed colorful birds.
The long tail of a paradise flycatcher colored in happiness,
or the flight of a palm-nut vulture and a hornbill.
The quiet mist behind a chimpanzee on top of a tree,
a testimony of a land run over by the war kid war,
surviving to this monstrous atrocity
and thriving under the kindness and protection
of a wildlife conservation hero and his team.
Testifying to have him let this treasure grow
among the poorest, for the poorest.
To have him disperse the seeds of this conservation scenery
along the crowded schools surely hiding some more heroes
have them grow behind the small windows in their tin walls.
